Six Weeks Old

What? Did you say I am going to the doctor?!

AND I am getting shots?!?

Today was Jake's 6 Week Check Up with the pediatrician. He was having terrible reflux a couple of weeks ago. We tried elevation, more frequent burping, changing formula, even zantac. Nothing was helping our poor baby! Then, the pedi suggested cereal in the bottle, and what a difference! Jake is a happy little baby again, weighing in at a little over 11 pounds. He is in the 60% for weight and the 70% for height. He also received 3 shots! He did very well, only crying for a minute before calming down and falling asleep. Unfortunately we are going to have to consult with a urologist soon, as the opening in Jake's urethra is not centered. He will most likely have to have surgery at 6 months. We are also meeting with the NS in 2 weeks, and have concerns about a small pocket of fluid that is not draining in the very back of his head. We are praying that he does not have to have another shunt placement. Other than that, Jake is doing well. He is sleeping about 4-5 hours at night, and eating 3-4 oz a bottle. He also loves laying on his playmat on his back or belly and watching his toys that light up and play music! He is beginning to have such a little personality, and we are loving every minute!

  1. So great to hear that Jake is doing well!

Elliott has had to go to the urologist since he was born, though for a different reason. He recently had to have a surgery. If you're looking for a pediatric urologist, I highly recommend Dr. Paul Zmaj at TC Thompson's.

Praying for all three of you!
